Biography

Dr. Ryan M. Kane is a National Clinician Scholar at Duke University pursuing a clinician-investigator track. His research utilizes community-engaged approaches, health system integration, and political advocacy to provide equitable obesity care. Dr. Kane received a BS in Biology from Clemson prior to attending the Medical University of South Carolina. While in medical school, Dr. Kane took a year off to complete an MPH in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Given his interest in underserved ambulatory medicine, Dr. Kane completed an Internal Medicine Residency and a Chief year at Oregon Health & Science University. At Duke, Ryan works clinically in Primary Care, Weight Management, and Interprofessional Education Clinics. His current research spans from community-based food as medicine interventions to optimizing health system social drivers of health screening/management. Ryan currently serves as an Associate Member of the SGIM National Council.
